About Vertebroplasty

When one or more of the bones within the spine, known as vertebrae, are damaged or fractured, vertebroplasty is performed to correct the issue. This is an advanced procedure that utilizes specialized bone cement to secure and hold the fractured bone(s) in place. This process helps provide much-needed support to the spine to enable flexible body movement and to prevent any deformity of the spine, such as a hump or curved contour. Vertebroplasty is usually reserved for those who have a severe spinal compression fracture. If you or your loved one have recently suffered from a spinal fracture, we invite you to get in touch with our team at Tricity Pain Associates in New Braunfels or Seguin, TX.

Vertebroplasty treatment

Vertebroplasty is an invasive, outpatient procedure that is performed on-site at our care facility. On average, it takes about one hour per fragmented vertebra to complete. At the start of your appointment, we will utilize a live x-ray feed to determine the exact location of your fracture and identify the areas of injection. From there, a specialized needle will be used to insert the bone cement into the spine. We also recommend that patients arrange for a responsible adult to drive them home after their appointment. Traditionally, it takes about two days for patients to notice a significant improvement.

If you would like to learn more about this state-of-the-art procedure, do not hesitate to set up a private consultation at Tricity Pain Associates in New Braunfels or Seguin, TX.
