About Muscle Injuries
A muscle injury occurs when there is damage to the soft tissues of the body: muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This type of trauma is generally the result of repetitive movements or physical injuries from contact sports, like football and wrestling. Other strenuous activities, like heavy lifting and running, can also place strain on your muscles. Soft tissue injuries can produce unwanted symptoms, such as stiffness, numbness, tingling, and limited mobility. This is why it's important to incorporate self-care regimens, like stretching, hot and cold therapy, and rest, into your daily routine. At Tricity Pain Associates in New Braunfels and Seguin, TX, we have worked with countless men and women who have suffered from a severe muscle injury. "Dr V is both a doctor and a friend. He treats his patients with empathy and consideration. You will never feel rushed in his care and he provides wholistic options for pain management. He shows incredible patience in a field where chronic pain leads to frustration and it is often difficult for the patient to verbalize their issues. Highly recommend Dr. V!"- J.A. / Google / Mar 23, 2021

"I cannot begin to explain how much Dr. V as helped me over the last year. I came to him at the recommendation of my rheumatologist due to an undiagnosed pain in my lower back. The pain was so intense I was unable to find any comfortable position much less sleep. From my first visit, I realized Dr. V was different. He spent time with me, listened to me, and was genuinely concerned about the ulceration (later diagnosed as lupus panniculitis) on my lower back and the immense pain it was causing. He was able to provide me with immediate relief. After my surgery, his office worked to get me in as soon as possible to adjust my medication. When Dr. V saw me hunched over, barely able to move, and walking with a walker, he told me he would take care of me, and he did. He adjusted my medication, and I was able to return to work when the surgeon released me. Besides his medical knowledge, Dr. V always made me feel that he cared about me as a person not just a patient. I would recommend Dr. V to anyone who is living with pain and wants their life back."- M.H. / Google / Dec 26, 2020

Muscle Injury Treatments
Typically, muscle injuries can be eased with at-home care regimens, like ice baths, hot packs, and over-the-counter pain medication. However, when these types of therapies do not provide the relief you need, you may need to consider other treatments to help improve your symptoms. Generally, we usually recommend a combination of physical therapy and prescription pain medication. In some cases, steroid injections, muscle relaxants, and nerve blocks may be considered to significantly reduce your discomfort. Our interventional pain care physicians will work closely with you to build a custom treatment plan that is appropriate for your condition, level of pain, and personal preferences.
